Description
Departing from accommodation in Cairns or the Northern Beaches, the tour begins with a stop to view agile wallabies within city limits. Visit the Cathedral Fig Tree, a 600-year-old Strangler fig notable for its large root system. Enjoy afternoon tea at Lake Barrine, followed by a rainforest walk where you may see musky rat-kangaroo, Boyd's forest dragon, various rainforest birds, butterflies, and flying foxes.
After a visit to Lake Eacham, head to Yungaburra’s platypus viewing area where there is approximately a 90% chance of spotting this unique mammal. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant in Yungaburra before starting the nocturnal spotlighting walk. The night walk under the stars offers opportunities to see Lumholtz's tree-kangaroo, northern leaf-tailed gecko, ringtail possums, gliders, frogs, owls, and other nocturnal species. The tour returns to Cairns around 10:00 PM and the Northern Beaches by about 10:30 PM.
