Paronella Park

On 5 hectares beside Mena Creek Falls, Jose built his castle, and surrounded with a magnificent garden comprised of over 7,500 tropical plants and trees. Complete with picnic area by the falls, tennis courts, bridges, love tunnel, it opened to the public in 1935.
Paronella Park is State & National Heritage listed and had won multiple tourism awards. In 2009 is was voted #1 of Queenslands top 150 things to see. It is privately owned and Eco accredited. All it's electricity usuage is supplied by it's own hydro-electric power station built in 1933 - Queenslands first. It also had Queenslands first movie theatre.
Jose died at the age of 60 in 1948 with many of his dreams unfulfilled.
Paronella Park features often as a backdrop in Tv ads & it's romaticsism makes it popular for weddings.
The Park is open each day (except Christmas day) from 9am to 7.30pm. The evening guided tour begins at 6.15pm. If you are in the Innisfail / Southern Tablelands region a visit to this beautiful place is a must.
Weddings packages are available and there are nights for movies at the park and other occasions can be arranged.
